Terms of Service

Last updated: October 24, 2026

Do these terms apply to me?

They do whenever you use compass-om.com. Using the site means you accept them. If you don’t, please don’t use the site. Compass is operated from the United States by the Compass Editorial Team.

What is the site, and what is it not?

Compass offers practical buying guides and product listings. They are there to inform you and nothing more. The content is not professional advice of any kind, and if a purchase or project involves safety, health, legal or financial consequences, a qualified professional is the right person to ask.

How do affiliate links and store purchases work?

Some links on Compass go to Amazon, and Compass may earn a commission on qualifying purchases, as explained in the Affiliate Disclosure. We never sell the products ourselves. A purchase takes place on the store’s website under the store’s terms, and anything that follows, such as orders, shipping, returns and warranties, is between you and the store or the manufacturer.

Can I count on prices and availability?

You can’t. Both change without warning, and we cannot guarantee that what is shown on Compass matches what a store is offering right now. The store’s page is where to confirm the real price.

Who owns the material on the site?

Compass owns the content it publishes, including the text and the way it is arranged. You may view it and make limited personal use of it. Copying it for republication, resale or any commercial purpose requires our permission.

If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email legal@compass-om.com and read the DMCA Policy.

What counts as acceptable use?

Use Compass the way a reader would. That means no:

  • attempts to hack, overload or interfere with the site or the servers it runs on
  • automated scraping that slows the site for others
  • uploading or linking to malware, or sending spam through our contact channels
  • impersonating the Compass Editorial Team or anyone else

Are links to other websites covered?

Only in the sense that we offer them as a convenience. Those websites belong to others, and we don’t control or vouch for their content or privacy practices. Their own terms apply when you visit them.

Are there any warranties?

None. The site comes “as is” and “as available.” As far as the law permits, Compass disclaims every warranty, express or implied, including any promise that content is accurate, complete or up to date, that it fits your purpose, or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

What are the limits on Compass’s liability?

To the extent the law allows, Compass and the Compass Editorial Team are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or any other loss that comes from using the site or relying on what it says, including money spent on products. Some jurisdictions restrict these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as the law allows.

What is indemnification?

It means that if your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms leads to a claim against Compass, you agree to cover the resulting damages and reasonable costs.

Which law governs these terms?

The laws of the United States.

Will the terms change?

Possibly. When they do, the date at the top will change, and using the site afterward means you accept the new version.
