Who is behind Compass?
The Compass Editorial Team, which has published practical buying guides since 2020. We write as a team and don’t list individual authors. The About Us page tells the rest of the story.
How do you pick the products you cover?
By asking what readers are trying to decide and what they are searching for, and then looking at what can actually be bought. We don’t cover a product because a company asked us to. The Editorial Policy explains this step by step.
Are the products tested?
Not by us. There is no lab testing or hands-on testing at Compass. Our guides rely on manufacturer specifications, public product information and aggregated buyer feedback, and we try to be clear about which one a statement rests on.
Is AI used to write the guides?
Yes. Drafts are created with AI writing tools, and the Compass Editorial Team reviews every draft before it is published.
How does Compass make money?
Through affiliate commissions on qualifying purchases made via our Amazon links. It adds nothing to what you pay. Read How We Make Money for the longer version.
Do commissions change what you recommend?
No. Commissions don’t influence which products appear or how they are described, and we don’t accept payment for favorable coverage. See the Affiliate Disclosure.
Are prices on Compass up to date?
They may not be. Prices and availability shift quickly, and a page can fall behind between updates. Use what you read here as a guide and check the current price before you pay.
Why does the store show a different price from yours?
The store sets its own prices and can change them at any time, through sales, new listings or stock changes. The store’s page is the final source, so go by what it says.
Does Compass sell or ship products?
No. We don’t run a store, so we can’t ship anything or look up an order.
What about returns and warranties?
Returns go through the store you bought from, and warranty claims go to the product’s manufacturer. Check their own pages for the rules that apply to your purchase.
How do I report an error on a page?
Send an email to editorial@compass-om.com with the page address and a note on what is wrong. We will check it and correct the page if needed.
How can I get in touch with the team?
Through the Contact Us page, where there is a form and a list of email addresses by topic.
What happens to my personal information?
Very little is collected: standard server logs from our host and any message you choose to send us. The Privacy Policy has the details.
Is Compass accessible?
We aim to follow WCAG 2.1 AA guidance, though the site has not been formally audited. The Accessibility Statement explains what we do and how to report a problem.
